HOMESCHOOL JOURNEY INFORMATION

 Homeschool Journey is a weekly educational group designed to supplement each child’s individual learning journey, whether they are homeschooled, attend daycare, or go to a traditional school. The group is open to children starting at age one. Led by a licensed teacher with over 15 years of experience in education, Homeschool Journey gives children opportunities to learn, create, collaborate, and build meaningful relationships with their peers.

Although the majority of a child’s learning will take place outside of our 2 hour weekly group, we believe what happens in our homeschool journey is unique and cannot be replicated.

During Homeschool Journey, children are learning so much more than academics. They are developing social and relationship skills, building friendships, taking healthy risks, trying new things, and learning how to be part of a community, all within a safe, consistent group with the support of their parents nearby. Parents also gain new ideas, see lessons and strategies modeled, and collaborate with the teacher and other families.

Our program is intentional, structured, and academically meaningful. We follow state learning standards and developmental guidelines while remaining flexible enough to meet each child where they are. We also use assessments and observations to monitor progress, identify individual needs, and guide instruction.

Children will participate in engaging, hands on lessons, collaborative projects, group discussions, problem solving activities, and other experiences that encourage them to think, create, communicate, and learn alongside their peers. We cover a variety of subjects and classes, including physical education this year! Families will also receive ideas and materials to take home so they can continue the learning throughout the week.

Children will have opportunities to spend time learning, playing, and building relationships with children of various ages. They will also separate into smaller groups to work with peers who are at a similar age and learning level.

Our philosophy is centered on helping children succeed in a small, intentional, and safe environment by removing unnecessary social pressures and recognizing that every child learns differently. We believe children learn best through play, hands on experiences, exploration, and community in a safe, welcoming environment.

We have great news!

Our Homeschool Journey groups have taken off, and we have officially outgrown our space! Homeschool Journey will now meet in rented classrooms at a local school just five minutes from Journey Playroom. Our evening hours make the program flexible and accessible for families with different schedules and learning arrangements.

We will meet every Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, beginning after Labor Day and continuing through Memorial Day.
